The Bay Cup returned to EBFG this weekend for a full day of fencing in Oakland! EBFG Fencer Kasia Trzopek took gold in the Senior Women’s Épée event, dominating the final bout 15-6 against GGFC’s Katherine Fulghum. Kasia also earned her A11! Congrats Kasia and great fencing!
In the Youth 12 Mixed Épée, EBFG fencer Atahan Kiliccote took 3rd, congrats on a hard fought bout and great podium finish. Also taking home a bronze medal was EBFG fencer Martina Baccari who placed third in the Youth 14 Women’s Épée event. EBFG fencer Sam Rao finished 6th in the Youth 14 Men’s Épée. Congrats to all the youth fencers for all their hard work!
Congratulations to EBFG fencer Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu for taking gold at the first annual Dominic Chiao Épée Benefit Tournament event last weekend at TFC.
EBFG fencer Justin Hunter also finished 7th, earning his C rating from an U! Thanks to all EBFG fencers who participated for their hard work.
East Bay Fencers Gym welcomes two new A’s to the team! Andrew Brewer won Saturday’s ROC event in Amarillo, Texas earning his A’11 rating.
Elani Ferri took gold at the Bay Cup senior C and higher mixed Épée event at En Guard Fencing club in Santa Rosa, also earning his A’11 upgrading directly from his C rating. Elani also won the Junior Men’s Épée event earlier in the day. Other EBFG finishes in the JME competition included twins Matthias and Thibault Philippine finishing in 5th and 6th respectively.
Other great finishes from the CHXE2 Bay Cup event were Andrew Brewer in 3rd, Keith Lichten in 5th, and Orestis Herodotou in 8th. Congrats to all EBFG fencers that participated!
Congratulations to EBFG fencer Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu for winning the Veterans Mixed Epee event at this weekend’s Bay Cup at TFC in San Jose! Mehmet beat out Sean Ameli 10-6 in the final. Thanks to all EBFG fencers who competed for their hard work!
Congratulations to EBFG fencers for their incredible results at the Senior C and Higher Mixed Épée season opener at TFC. It was an all EBFG podium with Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu taking first place after beating Andrew Brewer in a close final bout. Kyle Yamasaki and Phil Gerring tied for third place.
Thanks to all EBFG fencer’s for their hard work at the the 2011 USA Fencing National Championships which took place in Reno, Nevada this July. EBFG fencers fought hard in several events to end this outstanding and win filled season to a great close! Below are the results for EBFG fencers by event:

It was an all East Bay podium for the senior C and higher mixed epee. Keith Lichten took first after winning 15-14 in another dramatic bout versus teammate Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu. Kyle Yamasaki and Thibault Philippine tied for third. Orestis Herodotou placed sixth.
Cameron Parker won the senior C and lower mixed epee event, earning his B 2011 rating, after beating David Johnson of TFC in the final. Orestis Herodotou and Matthias Philippine tied for third. Steven Fialkowski took fifth and earned a D rating, Patrick Wang placed sixth and Brandon Li placed seventh. Julien Sat-Vollhardt finished 9th, earning his E rating.
Congrats to all who participated in last weekend’s open tournament here at EBFG! 38 competitors made for an A2 event.
