East Bay Epeeist Chloe Beittel will be fencing for the Blue Devils next fall. A native of San Leandro, CA., Beittel is currently a senior at The Head-Royce School in Oakland, CA., and has been fencing at the East Bay Fencers Gym (EBFG) in Oakland since she was eight. Working with Coach Abdul Habek she is a local Bay Cup, Regional Open Circuit (ROC) and National North American Cup (NAC) medalist. Beittel most recently placed 9th in the Milwaukee NAC Junior Women’s Epee category.
Named to the Absolute Fencing All-Academic First Team for three consecutive years, she is currently nationally ranked #32 in Junior Woman’s Epee
Beittel says she is grateful for all the support, friendships and great fencing at EBFG.
2017 December North American Cup (NAC) (DIV 1, DIV 2, Vet)
EBFG Veteran fencers had a great showing at this year’s NAC in Portland Oregon. Vet 40 Epee had two EBFG fencers on the podium. Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu defeated his EBFG teammate, Keith Lichten–and current National Champion, in the finals, giving EBFG a 1-2 finish. In the Vet 60 event, Gerry Downey took the podium in 3rd place.
In total, 5 EBFG Vet fencers finished in the round of 32. Great job to all fencers who competed!

East Bay Fencers Gym had a great showing at this year’s summer nationals in Salt Lake City, including Keith Lichten who became the 2017 National Champion in Vet 40 Men’s Epee! But Keith was not the only East Bay Fencer with visit to the podium, Kristin Lynch who finished 7th in Vet-40 Women’s Epee and Solomon Weingarten who finished 5th in Vet-60 Men’s Epee. Congratulations to all EBFG fencers who trained hard for this year’s nationals. What a great ending to an incredible 2016-17 season.

MAY 28, 2017. . . . Congratulations to EBFG fencers for their outstanding performance in last weekend’s annual Duel d’Abdul Epee open tournament at EBFG!
EBFG made another strong stand at their home gym taking Gold and Bronze, and also filling 5 of the top 10! Ziad Khayat (EBFG) finished first, Dimitri Nicholson (EnGarde), second and Paul Chandler and Kyle Yamasaki (both of EBFG) took third place. Other EBFG fencers in the top ten were Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu who finished 5th and Justin Hunter who took 8th. Great job guys!
