Ummi Green Finishes in the Top 8 at the March NAC in Cleveland

MARCH 12, 2017, Cleveland, Ohio . . . Congratulations to EBFG’s own Ummi Green who finished 7th in the Y12 Men’s Epee event at the March North American Championship (NAC). Ummi battle through a field of 95 competitors from across the United States to make it to the quarterfinals! The 12th seed after pools, Ummi had a strong finish, knocking off the 4th seed to make it to the round of 8. Congratulations to Ummi (and he earned his E Rating!)

About The Bay Cup: The Bay Cup spans three divisions within USA Fencing: Northern California, Central California, and Mountain Valley. Bay Cup tournaments are hosted by fencing clubs from Santa Cruz to Santa Rosa to Sacramento. The Bay Cup uses a rolling point system to display standings within each series during the season. Final standings are calculated at the end of the season. Prizes are awarded to the top finishers in each series after the end-of-season rankings are determined.
EBFG fencers did great at BladeRunner 20167 held on the campus of UC San Diego. BladeRunner is UCSD’S and the SD Division’s premier 6 event Open! It is also a USA Fencing Regional Open Circuit (ROC)! EBFG had fencers participate in the Junior Epee (Men and Women) and the Senior Open (Men and Women) events.
In the Men’s Senior Open, 90 fencers of all ratings participated, making this an A4 event. Top 10 EBFG finishers included Kyle Yamasakiwho finished 2nd! Chloe Beittel finished in 5th in the Junior Women’s event.
2017 Battle in Seattle Division 1-A ROC
Seventy-five fencers battled it out at this year’s Battle in Seattle. Ziad Khayat finished in 3rd place. Kyle Yamasaki finished 6th. Paul Chandler finished 16th.
EBFG Shines at BladeRunner 2016!
Nov. 6-7, 2016 . . . EBFG fencers did great at BladeRunner 2016. In the Men’s Senior Open top 10 EBFG finishers included Kyle Yamasakiwho finished 1st! Ziad Khayat finished in 3rd place. In addition, Ziad won the Men’s Junior Epee event.
SUNDAY, Sept. 9, 2016 . . . EBFG fencers did great at the third annual Battle of the Bay. Presented and run by The Bay Cup this event is now a DIV1A ROC (Regional Open Championship).
In the women’s event, thirty-eight fencers of all ratings participated, making this an A2 event. Top 10 EBFG finishers included Lindsay Kornguth who finished 3rd, Lauren Rath who finished 8th, and Natalie Hoge, who finished 10th.
In the men’s event, eighty-two fencers participated–an A4 event. Top ten finishers from EBFG included Keith Lichten (3rd), Kyle Yamasaki (6th), Thibault Philippine (7th), and Andy Faubert (9th).
In the Vet event, Barry Leonardini finished in 6th place.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 29, 2016 . . . EBFG fencers swept the top 6 spots in the opening tournament of the season to be hosted at East Bay Fencer’s Gym. Thirty-nine fencers of all ratings participated in this recent Open Senior Mixed Epee event, making this an A2 event. First place honors went to Thibault Philippine who defeated Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu in a hard fought finals. Placing third, in a fence off, was Ziad Khayat. The top female honors went to Chloe Beittel, who finished 16th. A great day for fencing and thanks to everyone who came out and participated. Click here to see the final results on askfred.net.
