East Bay Fencers Gym had a great showing at this year’s summer nationals in Dallas, including a 2nd place finish by Chloe Beittel in Div III Womens’ Epee, a 5th place showing by Andy Faubert in Div 1-A Men’s Epee, Keith Lichten who finished 5th in the Vet 40 Men’s Epee, and Jere Bothelio who finished 6th in the Vet 60 Men’s Epee event. Congratulations to all EBFG fencers who trained hard for this year’s nationals. What a great ending to an incredible 2015-16 season.

MAY 29, 2016. . . . Congratulations to EBFG fencers for their outstanding performance in last weekend’s annual Duel d’Abdul Epee open tournament at EBFG!
EBFG made another strong stand at their home court taking Silver and Bronze, and also filling 7 of the top 10! Sandor Mandoki (Halbertstadt Fencing Club) finished first, Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu (EBFG), second and Matthias Philippine (EBFG) took third place. Other EBFG fencers in the top ten were Ziad Khayat who finished 4th, Rob Rhea 5th, Thibault Philippine 6th, Andy Faubert 7th, Paul Chandler 9th, and Kyle Yamasaki who finished 10th. Great job guys!
Congratulations to EBFG fencers for an amazing weekend at home in Oakland! EBFG took gold in both of this weekend’s Bay Cup Epee events.
Katarzyna Trzopek fought a tough final against Hong Kong fencer Man Wai Kong, winning 12-11 to take home the gold medal in the Senior Women’s Épée event . Martina Baccari took home the bronze medal and also earned her C rating! Congratulations to the women’s team for their outstanding results.
EBFG fencers dominated the Senior C and Higher Épée event, sweeping 7 out of the top 8 places. The all East Bay podium included Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu (1st Place), Andrew Brewer (2nd Place), Kyle Yamasaki (3rd), Elani Ferri (3rd). Katarzyna Trzopek finished 5th, Orestis Herodotou finished 6th and Kevin Esnault finished 8th. An amazing victory at home! Thanks for all the hard work!
EBFG started off this year’s NAC season strong with several top place finishes including a gold medal at this season’s first NAC in St. Louis, MO.
A huge congratulations to Rob Rhea for his first place medal in DIV1 Men’s Épée! Rob defeated Adam Rodney of the Peter Westbrook Foundation 15-13 to capture the gold medal. Rob’s previous top place finish was silver against London Olympian Seth Kelsey.
Camille Esnault took home the bronze medal in the DIV2 Women’s Épée event, another great finish after her podium finish at last season’s summer nationals. Camille’s brother Kevin Esnault also made a strong run finishing 47th in DIV1 Men’s Épée.
Matthias Philippine also had an outstanding competition and finished 5th in the Cadet Men’s Épée event.

EBFG fencer’s dominated today’s senior Épée Bay Cup finale, taking home the gold medal in both events and filling up the top eight in the CHXE event! Congratulations to all EBFG fencers for their outstanding work all season in the senior epee Bay Cup series.
Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu fought back to secure his gold medal against EBFG teammate Kyle Yamasaki in a thrilling 15-14 match at the climax of the senior C and higher mixed Épée event. Phil Gerring joined them on the podium taking home the bronze medal and make it an EBFG hatrick! Also finishing in the top eight, Andrew Brewer took seventh and Orestis Herodotou finished eight.
Also winning a gold medal for East Bay today was Ben Mankin in the senior C and Lower mixed Épée event, also earning a shiny new C12 rating for himself in the process!

Thank you to all fencers who competed at this year’s East Bay Spring Open tournament! Forty three fencers fought hard in the A2 rated tournament for their chance to get on the podium! East Bay Fencers Gym swept the podium taking gold, silver and bronze! Five out of the top eight spots also went to EBFG fencers. Congratulations to Andrew Brewer for taking the gold medal in an excellently fought final bout against Rob Rhea! Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu, finished 3rd. Other top EBFG fencers in the round of eight were Kyle Yamasaki who finished 5th and Orestis Herodotou who finished 8th. Congratulations to the East Bay women for their great results at last weekend’s Bay Cup! Camille Esnault won the gold medal at the Youth 14 Women’s Épée event and Martina Baccari took bronze. Camille also gained a spot on the podium for the Junior Women’s Épée event, placing 3rd, while Martina placed 5th. In the Senior Women’s Épée event, Martina placed sixth with Camille coming in 7th. Great job and way to finish off the Bay Cup women’s season!
