Congratulations to East Bay youth fencers for their great results in last weekend’s Summer Nationals qualifier at Halberstadt Fencer’s Club!
Maeve Leininger took gold in the Y14 Women’s Épée event and secured her qualification for summer nationals. Sam Rao took gold and Atahan Killicote took silver in the Y14 Men’s Épée event. Congrats to the youth fencers and we look forward to a dedicated training session leading up to the summer nationals!
After EBFG’s men’s team took gold, silver, and bronze at the senior men’s Épée event on Saturday, it was time for the EBFG women to show up at Golden Gate Fencing Center and keep the winning streak going.
Camille Esnault won gold in the Youth 14 Women’s Épée event with Martina Baccari finishing 5th. Martina also finished 7th in the Junior Women’s Épée event. Katarzynad Trzopek defeated GGFC’s Sarah Tillman to take home the gold medal in the Senior Women’s Épée event. Great work ladies!
Congratulations to EBFG fencers for packing in the podium once again at last weekend’s Senior C and Higher Men’s Épée event at Golden Gate Fencing Center. Keith Lichten took home the gold medal, Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu won silver and Kyle Yamasaki finished third. Elani Ferri also finished 5th. Thanks for the hard work and another dominating victory for EBFG!
East Bay’s youth épée team made another strong showing at this weekend’s Regional Youth Circuit event in San Francisco. Atahan Kiliccote took gold in the Y12 Men’s Épée event, and also placed 6th in the Y14 Men’s Épée event, earning a qualification spot for this summer’s Y12 nationals event. Martina Baccari also took home the gold medal in the Y14 Women’s Épée event, and also qualifies for summer nationals. In the Y14 Men’s Épée event, EBFG’s Sam Rao fought hard in an intense final bout to bring home the silver medal, and Julien Sat-Volhardt placed 7th. Outstanding job team, we’re proud of your perseverance and hard work, and look forward to summer nationals!
Congratulations to EBFG fencers who competed in this weekend’s Regional Open Circuit event in Chandler, Arizona! East Bay’s Kyle Yamasaki took gold after defeating Matthew McGrath of Arizona Fencing Center, giving EBFG it’s third ROC victory of the season! Kyle along with EBFG fencer Todd Russell, who took 7th, qualified for the DIVIA summer nationals event scheduled to take place in Anaheim this summer. Great job team and good luck at summer nationals!
The bay cup continued this weekend at CFA in San Jose, CA with strong results for East Bay’s youth men’s team!
Atahan Kiliccote took home his second consecutive gold medal in the Y12 mixed Épée event and also finished in 3rd place in the Y14 Men’s Épée event. Julien Sat-Vollhardt made it to the final round and placed 2nd in the Y14 Men’s Épée event, with teammate Sam Rao taking 5th.
Sam Rao bounced back to win gold in the Junior Men’s Épée event after defeating Haydon Norby of CFA, earning his D’12 rating and wining his first tournament! Matthias Philippine and ThibaultPhilippine finished 5th and 6th respectively.
The top EBFG finisher in the CLXE event was Andy Davis, who placed 9th. Thanks to all EBFG fencers for their hard work!
Congrats to all EBFG fencers who fought in last weekend’s Div II/III Senior Épée Summer Nationals Qualifier events for the Northern California Division which took place at EBFG. Several EBFG fencers placed well and qualified for this year’s Summer Nationals competition in Anaheim, CA.
EBFG fencer Todd Russell took gold in the Div II Men’s Épée event, after defeating Charles Lucasey of Golden Gate Fencing Center. Todd dominated the bout winning 15-3. Great job Todd!
In the Div III Men’s Épée event, Brandon Li finished 4th and Patrick Wang finished 5th.
EBFG fencer Kristin Lynch clinched the top spot in the Div III Women’s Épée event, and Martina Baccari took home the silver medal. SharonParker also finshed 5th in the women’s event.

Atahan Kiliccote took gold in the Y12XE event after sweeping his pool and winning all of his DE bouts, remaining undefeated the entire event! Congratulations on your first tournament victory and keep up the hard work! Giuseppe Baccari also finished 6th.
In the Y14ME event, Sam Rao took the bronze metal while Atahan Kiliccote placed 5th. Good job guys!
Finally in the Junior Men’s Épée event, Matthias Philippine took the silver medal while his brother Thibault Philippine took 3rd place. Sam Rao also finished 8th.

Several EBFG fencers competed in last weekend’s Senior C and Lower Mixed Épée event at En Guard Fencing in Santa Rosa, CA. Out of 52 fencers, top EBFG finishers were David King 9th, Patrick Wang 10th, and Sam Rao 11th. Thanks to all EBFG fencers who participated and keep up the good results!
